FAQ

  • What kinds of returns do you do?

I currently prepare individual tax returns (1040s) including those with self-employment income, sole proprietorships, and single-member LLCs. I can also prepare most state tax returns. I do not do corporate tax returns (S-corps or C-corps) or partnerships.

  • What are your rates?

I charge hourly for tax services, based on actual time spent preparing and reviewing the return and communicating with the client. My rate for 2025 is $115/hr, with a 1.5-hour minimum. A $100 non-refundable deposit is required before I begin your return, which will be used toward your final balance upon completion. Clients who register and/or submit their documents to me after March 15th will be subject to my late season fee of an additional $25/hr.

  • How long does it take to prepare a return?

Most basic returns (primarily W2 wages) can be completed in about 2 hours. More complex returns (such as 1099/self-employment/rental income, investment activities, itemized deductions, etc) will take longer. Most of my clients’ returns are completed in 2-4 hours, but could take longer depending on complexity. I bill hourly based on actual time spent on the return, review, and calls with the client.

  • Why do you charge hourly rather than a flat rate?

As a preparer for many small business owners, self employed clients, and performing artists, I understand you need flexibility in your tax prep budget. Some clients save me time (and them money) by having their documents and financials clean and organized and ready to go, while others would prefer if I handle all the receipts and credit card statements instead. Additionally, some clients want to be more involved in the process and prefer more calls and walk throughs, while some like to “send it and forget it”. I charge hourly so my clients can be empowered to lower their tax prep bill instead of being charged a higher flat rate.

  • What are your credentials?

I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a B.S. in Accounting. I worked 2 tax seasons with a CPA firm before starting my own tax practice in 2021. In 2024, I passed several difficult exams to become an Enrolled Agent (EA). This is the highest designation offered by the IRS to tax preparers. Not familiar with the term EA? Think of it like a CPA, but specifically for tax preparation. By choosing me as your tax preparer, you can ensure I will prepare your return with great care and excellence.

  • I’m a freelancer and I’m not even sure what I can deduct. Can you help me?

Yes! In addition to preparing taxes, I have performed professionally for 15 years. I know all about multiple income streams, 1099 forms, and unique deductions, particularly for actors/performers/gig workers like myself. Knowing both sides, I can approach my clients’ returns with a unique understanding of this lifestyle that many tax preparers do not have.

  • I'm really behind on my taxes or just really overwhelmed by them, can you help me?

Yes! Don’t worry, this is a judgment free zone, and you aren’t alone! My goal is to take the burden of tax prep off your shoulders so you can feel freedom to spend time doing what you love. I can help you get caught up on previous tax filings as well as put you at ease for current and future tax years. Take a deep breath, hand your taxes over to me, and let out a sigh of relief. You’ve got this.

  • What if I don’t live near you?

Don’t worry — I work 100% remotely, so I have clients from all over the world! I’m available to communicate with you via Zoom, email, and phone, and I have a secure online portal where we can exchange & sign documents easily.

  • My question isn't here!

No problem! Send me an email on the contact page and I’d be happy to help with your questions!
